(Smith County Insider Press) – On December 16, 2019, Officer Hugo Teasley observed a vehicle travelling on Highway 25 with its tag not illuminated. A traffic stop was initiated.
According to the police report, the passenger of the vehicle, Destiny Martin (19, Lebanon), appeared to be nervous and shaking. Officer Teasley asked both the driver and Martin to step out of the vehicle. Permission was granted for Officer Teasley to search the vehicle. During the search, a small box labelled “Destiny’s Little Box of Joy” was found in the floorboard where Martin was sitting. Inside the box was a baggie containing an orange powder, a baggie containing a white powder, a dollar containing an orange powder, and three cut straws with residue.
According to the police report, Martin admitted that the box belonged to her. She stated that the orange powder was Adderall (2.1 grams) and the white powder was a muscle relaxer (3.04 grams). A field test showed the white powder tested positive as cocaine.
Martin is charged with possession of Schedule II, simple possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use.
