Good Scout Award presented to Phillip Hudson, Jr. at 2021 Smith County Good Scout Award Breakfast

Community and business leaders who support Scouting were in attendance for the annual Smith County Good Scout Award Breakfast served at the Carthage United Methodist Church on April 13th, 2021.

The Middle Tennessee Council of the Boy Scouts of America chose Phillip B. Hudson to be honored at the breakfast as the 2021 recipient of the Good Scout Award. To be considered to receive the award, one must exemplify the spirit of the Scout Oath and Law by helping others and doing their best at all times. The Good Scout Award distinguishes those who go above and beyond expectations and celebrates those who truly make a difference in our community, not only because they care, but because they act.

Phillip B. Hudson, Jr. is the third generation owner of Cumberland Supply Co. Inc. located in South Carthage. Following in his grandfather and father’s steps, he currently serves as president of the largest full service building supply company in Smith County. Phillip was educated at McCalle School, located in Chattanooga and received his undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. He and his wife, Dr. Alissa Hudson, live in Cookeville with their three children: Cecelia, Phillip, and Darby. In addition to his work at Cumberland Supply Co., Phillip also serves on the Board of Directors for Citizens Bank in Carthage, Tn.

Phillip has been a supporter of Scouting for many years. He has Volunteered with local scouting programs and has also used his company to help Scouts with their Eagle Projects by donating materials for them to use.
