Emmanuel House New Executive Director

June 1, 2021
Kandra Preston

The Board of Directors of the Emmanuel House are pleased to announce the hiring of our new Executive Director, Kandra Preston. Since our reopening in the summer of 2019, Holly Burton has served exceptionally well as our Executive Director but leaves the position with the following statement:

“I have been the executive director of the Emmanuel House for a month shy of 2 years. Making the decision to resign has been very hard and emotional for me. At this time, I feel like I need a change in my life and to have a better work-life balance for myself and my family. This position has been the most meaningful, fulfilling job I’ve ever had and I absolutely love all the residents and this program. I have plans to stay involved with the house and will miss working at the house daily.”

Although we are saddened to see Holly go, it is with sincere appreciation that we say “thank you” to her and look forward to working with her in the future in a different capacity as she helps us make a difference in the lives of the women we serve.

Kandra Preston, however, is no stranger to this Board or the House. As an introduction, she states,

“I am excited to be taking over as the executive director of the Emmanuel House. I have been a member of the board of directors for three years and was deeply involved in the reopening of the Emmanuel House when it was shut down in 2017. I have lived in Smith County, TN my entire life and I received a master’s degree in social work from UT Knoxville. I am delighted to begin this journey and be able to bring further therapeutic services to the women and children of the Emmanuel House.”

She has been an asset to us on the Board of Directors and we cannot be more pleased that we have someone of her character and ability levels to expand what we do at the Emmanuel House in the future. We are thankful for the support this community has given us and hope you will continue that support through this transition and into the future.
