Ebel’s Tavern Pregnancy Help Center Fundraiser

February 8, 2021

Carthage, TN— Ebel’s Tavern Poker League collected over 4,000 diapers and 330 packs of wipes for the Pregnancy Help Center, located in Downtown Carthage. The Pregnancy Help Center is a Christ-centered ministry in Smith County, Tennessee that offers life-affirming, compassionate care to women, men and children who face pregnancy related issues. All of their services are free and confidential.

Ebel’s Tavern, a local restaurant known for its “American Surf & Turf”, atmosphere and live events, hosts a free Wednesday night poker league. They compete with other leagues across the nation and boast of nightly prizes such as gift cards all the way up to seats being awarded for cash games in Las Vegas and other out-of-state venues.

Each month, the league chooses a different charity to support. This month, the Pregnancy Help Center was selected.

“The Pregnancy Help Center is one of those organizations you can completely be confident your donation is going towards a life-impacting, great cause. They work with the mothers, teach them things and help guide them in ways to care for their new children.” mentions Cole Ebel, owner of Ebel’s Tavern. “They practice the principles in not only giving to the mothers, but teaching them how to care and take responsibility. It truly goes a long way.”

“We operate on a shoestring budget of $35,000 a year.” quotes Executive Director Alicia Hoffman. “We only have one major fundraiser each year, our annual banquet, which brings in about a third of our budget. The rest is through smaller fundraising and grants, which are harder to get since we are a Christ-centered organization.”

If you would like to donate to the Pregnancy Help Center, you can donate online at PHCSmithCounty.org/Donations or donate in person. They are located at 108 College Avenue West, Carthage, TN 37030.
