On January 6, 2020, members of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office completed a drug buy-bust operation that led to one individual being arrested on multiple drug-related charges.

Sargent Junior Fields and Deputy Nathan Williams led the sting operation after Mr. Scottie West agreed to deliver 1.7 grams of heroin and an eighth of a gram of marijuana to them at Mojo’s Market.

West was stopped upon arrival and admitted to having heroin and marijuana in a cigarette pack. A search of West confirmed his possession of these items, and a straw powder residue was found in his pocket. A search of his vehicle led to the discovery of crystal methamphetamine.

West was placed in custody and transported to the jail. Upon arrival to the jail, West advised the officers that he had one-half of a Subutex in his wallet.

A passenger who was in the vehicle with Mr. West upon arrival to Mojo’s Market was escorted to the Sheriff’s Office for questioning and released without any charges.

West has booked into the Smith County Jail and charged with Possession of Schedule I, Possession of Schedule II, Possession of Schedule III, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Simple Possession of Schedule VI. West is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
