(Smith County Insider Press)—On October 14, 2018, Smith County Sheriff’s Deputy Jake O’Neal stopped to investigate a vehicle that was partially obscuring the roadway of Horseshoe Bend Lane in Carthage. Both Jamie Hope Jones (40, Hendersonville) and her husband Willis Madison Jones (42, Hendersonville) were arrested as a result of the investigation.
According to the police report, Deputy Jake O’Neal and Sergeant Ridge Long noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle upon making contact with the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Jones consented to a vehicle search.
During the search, officers found half a gram of methamphetamine, three glass pipes, and one marijuana pipe inside the vehicle.
According to the police report, a clear bag containing 4 grams of methamphetamine was also found several feet from the vehicle. Mrs. Jones admitted to officers that she had thrown the bag outside.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Jones were placed under arrest and transported to the Smith County Jail for booking.
Jamie Jones and Willis Jones are both charged with counts of felony possession of drug paraphernalia and manufacture/delivery/sale of a controlled substance.
