2020 Veterans Day Parade Will Take Place on Sunday November 8th

November 2, 2020

American Legion Post 57 will hold the 2020 Veterans Day parade on Sunday, November 5, on Main Street in Carthage, TN. The parade is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm.

All veterans are welcome to walk with fellow veterans. The line up for the parade begins at 1:00 pm in front of Powell and Meadow’s Insurance. The parade will proceed down Main St from Carmack Ave to the Historic Smith County Courthouse. A ceremony will be held on the Historic Smith County Courthouse steps following the parade. Major General Tommy Baker will be the guest speaker.

You are invited and encouraged to come out and line the streets of Carthage in honor of our Veterans! If you are unable to attend the parade, you can watch live coverage of the parade on Smith County Insider’s Facebook Page.

You may also support this year’s annual Poppy Drive by donating on November 6th and 7th at the following locations: Carthage Sav-Way, Gordonsville Shop Rite, Carthage Walmart, and Gordonsville Keystop.

The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all wars. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by our veterans while protecting our freedoms. Donations received are used to support veterans, the military community, and their families.
